Toys and Games
Although often thought to add to a collection of clutter, toys and games are quite useful in the growth and development of children. Not only are toys and games forms of enjoyment, but they teach lifelong lessons and allow for families to spend quality time with one another. The toys that are available for infants focus on soft and textured items that are bright in color. Some of the most popular toys for infants include rattles and teething rings. Toddler toys focus on building and connecting, such as with large blocks and puzzles. As preschoolers, children enjoy toys that feature creative and imaginative play. Popular toys include dress-up accessories and cars and trucks. For school-aged children, toys and games that involve group participation are most favored. These include board games and sports activities. The toys and games that appeal to children change as they grow older, but toys have always focused on the same fun and creative elements, such as building, pretend play and creativity. In fact, many of the same classic toys and games that adults used to play with are the same as what children play with today. An addition to the toy market is educational toys and games, which focus on skills such as reading, spelling and math. The advantage to educational toys and games are that they make learning fun for small children and can teach them in unique ways.
