Home Furnishings
Home furnishings are the most important purchase for a homeowner. It can be a daunting task buying home furnishings, but with the right guidance one's home can be comfortable and stylish. First, determine what rooms need furniture and the amount of space within each. Home furnishings are typically needed for the bedroom, the living room, and the dining room, but some homes have more rooms. Home furnishings for the bedroom are, obviously, a bed, a bureau, and a nightstand. Most people choose queen or full sized beds because the dimensions vary little: the full is 4 inches shorter and 5 inches narrower than the queen. Another important piece is the bureau, which has between two and six drawers. If there's space one should get a nightstand. This can be replaced with a wall shelf if only an alarm clock is needed, but if storage is required a nightstand is necessary. The living room's usual purpose is entertainment; therefore home furnishings should be comfortable. Typically this room needs a TV stand, a sofa, a coffee table, and an armchair. A simple TV stand comprises a tabletop, a shelf, and a storage compartment. The options get larger and more complex depending on the amount of equipment one owns. Opposite are the sofa and the coffee table. Sizes and shapes vary in both, so the main purpose is comfort and storage. The coffee table is placed directly in front of the sofa and can simply be four legs with a tabletop or can have more shelves and drawers. Coffee tables and sofas are often rectangular, but as home furnishings go these are the most versatile, ranging in shape, size, and material.
